For Kojima, the size of the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 team is "ideal"

Ahead of the release of Death Stranding 2 on June 26, Hideo Kojima has embarked on a veritable media tour. He has been interviewed on a wide range of subjects, including the latest news from the gaming industry.

While Kojima Productions currently has 172 employees, it's clear now that the Japanese auteur prefers smaller teams.

"When I first started, it was like a team of six. You could do everything yourself. Now, it’s expanded. You can’t really control each employee, so you delegate. But sometimes, the idea doesn’t really work out because it’s a bigger team."

Kojima also gave Sandfall Interactive, the studio behind the excellent Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, as an example.

"They only have like 33 team members and a dog. That’s my ideal when I create something with a team."
