Microsoft has reportedly cancelled its first-party Xbox handheld altogether

In addition to the ROG Xbox Ally in partnership with Asus shown last week, Microsoft was working on its own handheld console designed in-house.
At the end of May, The Verge journalist Tom Warren reported that the American manufacturer had decided to put its project on hold to focus on compatibility with Windows 11 games instead.
Now, the same Tom Warren clarifies that the portable has been totally abandoned.
"I've heard from insiders that the console has been all but cancelled, as the company focuses on the new Xbox software platform."
"I still think that Microsoft will offer us next-generation Xbox hardware, but I also firmly believe that we'll see many devices from PC manufacturers like Asus that will also be considered next-generation Xbox consoles."
