An RTX 5090 with blower cooling has been spotted in China

Some unofficial versions of the RTX 5090 with “blower” cooling have appeared in China. These are aimed at reducing costs for AI companies.

Officially, NVIDIA does not offer RTX 5090s with blower cooling, as this type of card is not designed to operate at low TDP. However, a 300 W server version, the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell, does exist, but is not yet on the market. In the meantime, some Chinese companies are recycling classic RTX 5090s for industrial use.

Photos published on Goofish, a platform for second-hand products in China, show that components are extracted from gaming models to be reassembled on new PCBs. This results in thinner GPUs, compatible with multi-card systems, which triple- and quad-slot models do not allow.

NVIDIA, as in the case of the RTX 30 and 40 cryptomining waves, does not seem to be intervening or tracing these hijackings. These practices could lead to a drop in availability for gamers and encourage counterfeiting.
