CD Projekt RED will focus solely on AAA open-world RPGs

With The Witcher and Cyberpunk, CD Projekt RED has two strong licenses in the open-world action-RPG genre. In a recent podcast, the Polish firm spoke very clearly about its desire to remain commited to this type of game.
Marcin Iwiński, the company's co-founder, emphasized the fact that his teams have always resisted the temptation to try and branch to other genres to which the studio is not usually attached. The aim here is not to spread too thin by trying too many new and very different things.
"In everything we do, we've learned that we have to be very focused. We can only do so many things we'd like to do or are tempted to do. We've tried and it hasn't worked. We have to concentrate on what we know how to do and give it 100%."
Adam Badowski, co-CEO of CD Projekt RED, was clear to say the least.
"It's all in our strategy. We're going to develop big-budget open-world, narrative RPGs, and that's our, shall we say, niche. So that's the goal."
