Black Panther was reportedly cancelled because development wasn't advanced enough
, by Thibaut
This week's big news comes from Electronic Arts, which has gone and cancelled its Black Panther game and closed Cliffhanger Games.
In an article published on Bloomberg, Jason Schreier explains the reasons for this. According to his sources, EA executives were frustrated that the game was still in pre-production after almost four years of development. A new internal milestone had been reached just before the publisher came to bury the project.
In any case, the cancellation came as a shock to employees, as recruitment was already underway. Many new recruits had arrived over the past year, but some developers would only stay for a few months or weeks. Despite this, the team was dynamic and the game was gradually taking shape.
Unfortunately, this was not enough to convince Electronic Arts, which now wishes to concentrate on a smaller number of successful licenses.
