The Order: 1886 could have had a sequel with a multiplayer mode

Released in February 2015 only on PS4, The Order: 1886 didn't fulfill those lofty expectations. So much so that Sony never approved a sequel and the (now closed) Ready At Dawn studio finally turned to VR.
In an interview with Julien Chièze, Ru Weerasuriya, the studio's co-founder, looks back on the second The Order that could have seen the light of day. Long before the game's launch, Weerasuriya had already imagined an entire timeline for the saga, from the past to the 20th century.
In The Order 2, battles would have been more impressive with several dozen enemies present on screen, all with new adversaries and ever more fearsome creatures.
Moreover, during the second year of production of The Order: 1886, the studio did a prototype of a multiplayer mode. The developers played it at home. Unfortunately, due to lack of time and budget, the idea was abandoned. The multiplayer mode was to be introduced in the sequel. Ready At Dawn's ambition was to offer an evolution similar to that seen between Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
Alas, the game's lukewarm reception completely put an end to these dreams. Ru Weerasuriya now works at Atlantis Studio, a new studio based in Avignon, France.
