Star Citizen loses key members of server meshing development team
, by Quentin
According to Insider Gaming, several key figures involved in Star Citizen's server meshing development have left Cloud Imperium Games in the recent months.
There's Roger Godfrey, senior producer of core technologies, who left the company in December 2024. He was followed by Ivan C (producer) and Jordan Wood (network programmer), both described internally as essential to the project. Their departures are considered a major loss for the studio.
Internal sources point to tensions linked to Cloud Imperium's takeover of Turbulent at the end of 2023. This change would have led to controversial promotions, with some employees deemed unqualified moving up to important positions.
The only two producers working on server meshing have now left the company. In addition, CIG is reported to have made several waves of redundancies affecting various levels of the hierarchy.
The future of server meshing, though crucial for Star Citizen, remains uncertain. The game recently surpassed $800 million in crowdfunding, but still has no firm release date.
