Former Marathon developer talks about the toxic culture in the studio

As the days go by, Bungie's Marathon has become the subject of much controversy. Now, a former developer is adding even more fuel to the fire.

The man who called himself Spirited on Bluesky worked on Marathon at the title's engineering level. He has since deleted his account.

In his message, Spirited described his experience on Marathon as toxic and even humiliating. He did not wish to give further details to avoid breaching the NDA he signed in the past.

"Working with the people in charge of engineering and Marathon was extremely toxic and humiliating. I won't talk about the rest, but Bungie management needs to be completely gutted."

The dev even went to add that his team “was disbanded following layoffs that took place a few weeks" after his departure.
