Hideo Kojima has all his ideas on a USB stick for after his death
, by Thibaut
For many, Hideo Kojima is one of the greatest video game directors in history. In a recent interview with Edge, the Japanese creator revealed that he has all prepared for his successor for when he is no longer with us.
For starters, Kojima recalled the COVID-19 pandemic that made him realize that time could be running out.
"I got sick and couldn't create anything. And I saw a lot of people around me die at that time. I was confronted with death. Of course, I recovered, but I thought: "Wait, how many years do I have left to make a game or a film? Maybe I've got ten years left?"
"I gave a USB stick containing all my ideas to my personal assistant, a bit like a testament. Maybe they'll be able to continue making things after I've left Kojima Productions... That's one of my fears: what will happen to Kojima Productions after I'm gone? I don't want them to just manage our existing licenses."
At the age of 61, Hideo Kojima will release Death Stranding 2 on June 26, 2025.
