French President Emmanuel Macron congratulates the studio behind Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Barely a week after its launch, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is already a source of national pride in France. Indeed, the President of the French Republic himself has congratulated Sandfall Interactive, the Montpellier-based studio behind the RPG.
On Instagram, the company posted a message thanking players for the "crazy week" they've had since the game's release. Emmanuel Macron also made a comment to congratulate the studio.
"One million copies sold, and to date one of the highest-rated games in history: yes, that's France alright! Congratulations to Sandfall Interactive and all the creators of Expedition 33. You are shining a light on French boldness and creativity."
It's a statement at odds with those made by the man himself in September 2023, when he declared that video games were "intoxicating" the minds of young people. He later backtracked on this statement, saying that video games "are an integral part of France" and "offer opportunities for employment and the future".
