Nintendo Switch gets a big update that adds the Virtual Game Cards

It's been a long time since the Nintendo Switch got a big system update. This 20.0.0 patch comes at just the right time, bringing major features for the future of the machine.

Virtual game cards are now available on Switch. They can be exchanged between two consoles linked to the same Nintendo account, just as if they were physical game cards. Just free the card from one machine to another. Of course, virtual cards for Switch 2 games will only work on Switch 2.

This famous update also adds GameShare, so you can share software from a Switch 2 to other nearby consoles. The eShop and News icons in the HOME menu have also changed color. What's more, you can transfer multiple files at the same time from the Transfer backup data menu now.

In addition, an “Identity Verification Settings” section has been added to the machine parameters. A secret code can now be generated to restrict access to the menu dedicated to virtual playing cards. There's also another section called Online license settings that lets you use purchased software and downloadable content even if the Virtual Card is not loaded.

Last but not least, there's the Data transfer to Nintendo Switch 2 option is now available in the Switch settings. This is used to transfer data from a Switch to a Switch 2 via local wireless communication. An ideal function so no data is lost when you switch to Switch 2 on June 5 (or later).
