Gearbox says the new release date for Borderlands 4 has nothing to do with GTA VI
, by Thibaut
We learned this week that Borderlands 4 will finally be released on September 12 instead of September 23 as originally planned. Following this announcement, a little rumor began making the rounds on social networks.
Indeed, some Internet users and other content creators were saying that this advance for Borderlands 4 could be linked to the launch of GTA VI, still scheduled for this autumn. However, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford dismissed this hypothesis.
"Borderlands 4 shipping early is 100% the result of confidence in the game and development trajectory backed by actual tasks and bug find/fix rates. Our decision is literally 0% about any other product’s actual or theoretical launch date.
We understand that Pitchford is referring to Grand Theft Auto VI, which, just like Borderlands 4, is also published by Take-Two Interactive.
