11 Bit Studios announces the remake of the first Frostpunk for 2027

11 Bit Studios has announced a remake of the original Frostpunk, scheduled for release in 2027 under the name Frostpunk 1886. This will be a complete remake of the first game on Unreal Engine 5. This decision follows the limitations encountered with their in-house engine (Liquid Engine) during the development of Frostpunk 2.

The remake will feature improved graphics, new content, updated mechanics, new events and reworked technologies. 11 Bit Studios has also confirmed that Frostpunk 1886 will feature mod support, thanks to the possibilities offered by Unreal Engine 5. This will let the game get even more DLC, community content and other additions in the future. The Steam page is already online.

Development of Frostpunk 2 continues in parallel, with major free updates, a console release and DLC to come.
