NVIDIA's H20 GPUs for China have ended up being spared by Washington
, by Quentin
According to a report by NPR, the Trump administration has dropped its plans to impose sanctions on NVIDIA's H20 GPUs designed for China. The decision follows a meeting between NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and Donald Trump. In return, NVIDIA has promised to invest in artificial intelligence data centers in the United States.
H20 GPUs are the most advanced that NVIDIA can legally sell in China. They were targeted by potential restrictions, as Washington seeks to limit exports of sensitive technologies. Their performance had attracted attention after they were used by Chinese startup DeepSeek to train AI models competing with Western standards.
This announcement comes after NVIDIA's share price had fallen after concerns about its dependence on the Chinese market. It has since recovered nearly 6%.
