Almost half of the players who stopped playing Overwatch 2 went to Marvel Rivals

Thanks to an analysis conducted by Newzoo, an organization specializing in the video game market, we can measure the impact that the launch of Marvel Rivals may have had on Overwatch 2.

In a new document, the company revealed that 45% of players who stopped playing Blizzard's title in December 2024 switched to NetEase's title during the same period. It has to be said that Overwatch 2 has been on a downward slope since its release in October 2022. Its user numbers were in constant decline until early 2024. Last year, the figure stabilized before a further 26% drop in player engagement when Marvel Rivals was launched.
