A scene from Minecraft causes chaos in American cinemas
, by Thibaut
The feature film based on Mojang's video game is a box-office smash already. In fact, Minecraft generated over $300 million in its first weekend of release.
Alas, a phenomenon as astonishing as it was distressing took places in cinemas (mainly in the USA). During one scene, Garett Garrison (played by Jason Momoa) confronts a Chicken Jockey, a rather rare enemy in the game. It is, as the name suggests, a hen ridden by a small zombie. This sequence has gone viral on social networks.
When it's shown at the cinema, viewers start shouting the enemy's name (Chicken Jockey) as they throw popcorn around the room. Several videos can be seen on networks such as TikTok. The police sometimes had to intervene to calm the crowd and arrest the people responsible for these incivilities.
Finally, let's end on a lighter note, as an unfinished version of the Minecraft movie is floating around the internet. In the short extract below, we can see Jack Black in sets that have only been partially modeled.
