The Minecraft movie has achieved the best start for a game adaptation on cinemas

In its first weekend, the Minecraft movie generated $301 million at the global box office. This represents $157 million in the USA and $144 million abroad.

Even though the film has got some mixed reviews from critics, Minecraft has managed to attract a large number of moviegoers.
Indeed, on the day of its release, the adaptation generated $58 million. This is the best first day for a film in 2025, ahead of Captain America: Brave New World and its $40.9 million.
First-weekend estimates were between $70 and $80 million. Now, the film should easily reach $150 million. As a reminder, during the same period, Super Mario Bros. earned $146 million at the box office.
