Some Switch games will get a Switch 2 upgrade
, by Thibaut
During the latest Nintendo Direct, the Japanese company announced the Virtual Game Card system. To put it in simple terms, these let you share digital titles from one Switch to another in the same way as with a physical cartridge.
To explain the concept of this new feature, Nintendo has put a page online on its website, and it mentions a term that seems to indicate that several Switch games will be optimized for the Switch 2.
"Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games and Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games can only be loaded on a Nintendo Switch 2 system."
Here, the term "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games" presumably refers to titles originally released on the first Switch that will be enhanced on the new machine. If this is the case, we don't yet know whether these upgrades will be free and which games they will concern.
