Resident Evil 9 could reinvent the whole franchise and will be announced this year

The eight entry in the Resident Evil franchise will soon hold its fourth anniversary, and Resident Evil 9 could be announced in the coming weeks.

At least, this is what insider Dusk Golem reports, suggesting that the game could be presented as early as this year. Capcom would also like to try new things with this title and reinvent the franchise. Don't expect a simple sequel that follows in the footsteps of Village.

As far as the characters are concerned, Leon Kennedy, the hero of Resident Evil 2 and 4, could reprise his starring role in Resident Evil 9. Jill Valentine, who was initially tipped for the role, may be left out of the adventure altogether.

Last but not least, Capcom is reportedly still planning to develop further remakes of older titles. A new version of Resident Evil 0 could be in the pipeline.
