The extraction-based, multiplayer Far Cry has been rebooted

Ubisoft is currently working on two Far Cry games. In addition to a single-player entry for the main saga, there's an extraction-based multiplayer spin-off called Project Maverick too.

According to information obtained by Insider Gaming, this title was initially a multiplayer mode for Far Cry 7. In early 2023, the project became a full-fledged game. Alas, development seems to be running into difficulties, as a reboot has recently taken place. The decision was taken when the team working on Maverick was transferred to the seventh game last December.

Ubisoft Montréal is now in charge of multiplayer, with the help of Ubisoft Sherbrooke. Maverick was originally intended as a multiplayer extraction game set in Alaska. Players would have had to battle local wildlife, AI-controlled soldiers and other players before extracting themselves from the map.

Now, it's almost impossible to know what the title will look like.
