Team Asobi claims to have pushed the PS5 to its limits with Astro Bot

Beneath its simple platformer exterior, Astro Bot has clearly made the most of the PS5. At least that's what by Takumi Yoshida, senior gameplay programmer on Team Asobi's game, claimed in an interview with Famitsu.

According to him, it was necessary to use all the machine's computing power to achieve decent performance on a specific portion of the game.

"We used the PS5's processing power to the full, and in addition to the many elements displayed on screen, what's also impressive is the water modeling. The part where Astro turns into a sponge and splashes the environment with water was very difficult, as the frame rate was not stable. We had to optimize it right up to the end of development."
