The Fable delay could be due to gameplay concerns
, by Thibaut
We now know that the Fable reboot by Playground Games has been delayed to 2026. Speculation has been rife as to the reasons behind this delay, but insider eXtas1s tells us more in a new video.
First of all, he states that the decision was not made because of the release of GTA VI or because Xbox would have too many games scheduled for 2025. Nor was the choice made because of a hypothetical PS5 or Switch 2 version. Rather, it's because gameplay concerns.
For the time being, Playground is not that satisfied with the gameplay of Fable. It lacks the right rhythm, and the gameplay is not as fun as the devs hoped. They want to achieve a very high level of quality, and will be fine-tuning their latest creation right up to its release.
Added to this is the fact that development would not have started to progress properly until early 2024. Before that, production was "chaotic". Playground also had to rethink its engine, which is basically designed for the car games in the Forza Horizon IP, but this is no longer the case.
Last but not least, eXtas1s states that the famous dog of the franchise, which served as the companion of our hero in Fable 2, won't be coming back for this new entry.
