Electronic Arts CEO reflects on the commercial disappointment of EA Sports FC 25

In a recent report, EA expressed its disappointment at the commercial performance of some of its games, mainly Dragon Age: The Veilguard and EA Sports FC 25.

Andrew Wilson, CEO of the American publisher, spoke on this subject when announcing the results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025. According to him, the football simulator got off to a good start thanks to record pre-orders and real commitment from players in terms of monetization, but it lost steam as the weeks went by.

Wilson also mentions the fact that too few newcomers purchased the 2025 entry, and that overall engagement dropped off during the previous quarter. In addition, many players preferred to stay on EA Sports FC 24 rather than go for the new iteration.

Finally, the CEO highlights the fact that the new gameplay features of EA Sports FC 25 have not been favorably received by the community, which prompted the dev teams to roll out a quite big patch on January 16.
