Samsung is teasing a 27" 5K QD-OLED screen
, by Quentin
Samsung seems to be working on a 27-inch QD-OLED display with a resolution of 5K. This model, shown behind closed doors at CES 2025, boasts a density of 220 pixels per inch.
The move to 5K could be pretty interesting when it comes to gaming and content creation, though everyday use could be subject to scaling via Windows. According to Flat Panels HD, the screen seems brighter than the equivalent 4K model, and not because the brightness has been increased, but for its higher pixel density.
That said, the increase in resolution raises some valid questions when it comes to graphics performance. 5K definition requires 77.7% more pixels per frame than 4K, which means more computing power is needed. Upscaling technologies are sure to be invaluable when it comes to this.
Samsung has yet to say anything regarding its release date or price.
