Titles coming to Game Pass could make them sell an 80% lower on Xbox

Game Pass critics like to point to the fact that, whenever a game comes to Microsoft's subscription service, it results in hardly any sales, and this may indeed be true.
Analyst Christopher Dring of GamesIndustry.biz revealed quite an interesting detail on the InstalBase forum. According to him, a game being included in Game Pass can make it "lose around 80% of its expected premium sales on Xbox". Also, adding a title to the service would have the potential to boost sales on other supports like the PS5.
Dring mentions games such as Hellblade 2, Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle among those affected by this. However, the main interested party adds that a subscription such as Game Pass is a good way of allowing users to discover games that might otherwise have been drowned out by bigger ones.
For example, if someone subscribes to Game Pass to play the latest Call of Duty, they could also take the opportunity to try out one or more indie games included in the catalog.
