Nvidia may launch its own Arm-based desktop CPU

This CES 2025, Nvidia announced Project Digits, a $3,000 personal AI supercomputer featuring the GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip. In turn, this comes with an Arm-based CPU developed in tandem with MediaTek.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang hinted to investors that the company was considering other uses for this CPU. He said the company has "plans", and that he would spill the details at a later date. This 20-core CPU could be marketed by either Nvidia or MediaTek, given that the two partners have different ambitions.

While Project Digits is aimed at AI devs and is not a consumer product per se, there have been rumors of an Nvidia CPU for consumers since October 2023. Nvidia is said to be working on Arm-based processors in views of a launch in 2025.
