Nintendo Switch is the best-selling home console in the U.S ever
, by Quentin
The Nintendo Switch has finally surpassed the PlayStation 2 to become the best-selling home console in US history. According to the latest data from Circana, the Switch has reached 46.6 million units sold in the country since its launch in 2017, surpassing even the PS2.
However, it remains behind the handheld Nintendo DS, which retains the title of best-selling system in the US. This had been anticipated for several months: in June, Circana reported that the Switch was just 1.1 million units away from catching up with the PS2.
However, Nintendo's hybrid console still has a gap to close when it comes to worldwide sales. With 146.4 million units sold as of September 30, the Switch remains some 14 million short of Sony's 160 million PS2 sales.
