Elden Ring Nightreign can be played solo or in threes, but not as a duo

FromSoftware has brought a trickle of new info about Elden Ring Nightreign. This cooperative title is due next year on consoles and PC.
Prior to this, the Japanese studio had stated how the game will be played. In an interview with IGN, we learn that the experience can be played solo or with three. However, you can't play it in two.
Director Junya Ishizaki explains this choice.
"The reason that we went with a three-player focus was that we wanted to retain that sense of accomplishment you get from battling a boss together or from conquering a map together and that sense of enjoyment, but we wanted to recreate that in a fresh way. And we felt like focusing on a three-player co-op experience would provide a brand new sense of accomplishment with it."
A technical test is taking place in February on PS5 and Xbox Series.
