Borderlands 4 will move away from the toilet humor of the third game

We got a first glimpse at the gameplay for Borderlands 4 at The Game Awards 2024. The game is due for release next year on PS5, Xbox Series and PC.

In a series of messages published on X, Sam Winkler, the narrative director of the fourth game, spoke about the title. He points out that this will be the franchise's most ambitious title yet, and that there will be a slight change of tone from Borderlands 3.

"I’m not gonna say there’s no toilets but if the word skibidi ships in the game under my watch I’m gonna cry real tears."

He adds that there may be a few jokes like that in Borderlands 4, but that they will be far less frequent.
