Unpacking's creator accuses Nintendo of not removing copies of their game from the eShop
, by Thibaut
Released in November 2021, Unpacking is a puzzle game that has you unpack boxes and install the objects that come out in your new home. It's quite an addictive concept, and one that has been copied by many.
Indeed, Wren Brier, the title's creator, recently called out Nintendo on the Bluesky social network. She criticized the Japanese company for letting counterfeits be sold on the eShop and misleading customers by reusing the name of her game.
"It's been over two weeks and these are still on the eShop. Nintendo hasn't responded to any of our reports of these egregious scams which are using our trademarked game name and purposely tricking Nintendo customers into buying cheap fakes."
Titles such as Unpacking Universe Dreams, Unpacking: Chill Music Pack and Unpacking: Haunting Locations are indeed on sale on the eShop at relatively low prices. And, of course, they are in no way related to Brier's game.
Unfortunately, this practice is widespread on the App Store and Google Play, and tends to affect console stores too.
