The team behind Black Myth: Wukong was disappointed not to win GOTY at the Game Awards

It seems some were disappointed that Astro Bot won GOTY at The Game Awards 2024. Indeed, several reports claim that the devs of Black Myth: Wukong were disenchanted wit the result.

According to Automaton, Feng Ji, the studio's CEO, was confident of wining the GOTY, so much so that he even wrote his victory speech two years ago. What's more, he was quoted as saying that he felt he came "for nothing".

Streamer and former Santa Monica Studio writer Alanah Pearche was there, and she said she saw members of the studio in tears when the winner of the Game of the Year was announced, and these were of disappointment.

Black Myth: Wukong went on to win the awards for Best Action Game and Audience Choice.
