Ubisoft shareholders are reportedly preparing for a takeover of the company

Last October, Bloomberg reported that the Guillemot family and Tencent were studying a possible takeover of Ubisoft. The publisher is going through quite the crisis, and a reestructuring of the company seems to be a matter of when and not if.

This Friday, Reuters has more information on the subject, stating that the French publisher's shareholders are considering the creation of a new structure with the aim of encouraging a takeover, and all without reducing the Guillemots' control.

Moreover, it's mainly Tencent that will have to take a stand in the near future. At present, the Chinese giant is wavering between increasing its stake in Ubisoft and participating in a hypothetical buyout. Above all, Tencent would like to secure the company against a possible hostile takeover by outside investors.

In any case, Tencent wants to strengthen its position at Ubisoft by having a greater say in decisions taken by the board of directors.
