Intel is working on a response to AMD's 3D V-Cache, though not for gamers
, by Quentin
AMD is currently making a big splash with its new 3D V-Cache processor, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and it's pretty interesting to see how the rest of the industry is reacting to it, particulary Intel.
That said, Intel has no immediate plans for consumer processors with similar technology. The company is working on a response with the Xeon processors, but aimed at professional user and not the gamer market.
For Intel, this technology may offer advantages for gamers, but it also has a number of drawbacks. According to the company, these compromises are not in line with what gamers expect. On the other hand, Intel seems ready to explore this avenue for professional applications, a market with vastly different needs to that of video game enthusiasts.
