Phil Spencer confirms that Xbox will keep creating consoles
, by Quentin
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft's gaming division, spoke about the future of Xbox hardware.
He confirmed that the company plans to release new consoles in the future, as well as other devices. However, when it came to a possible mid-generation update for the Xbox Series, similar to Sony's PlayStation 5 Pro, Spencer wasn't so sure.
According to him, Xbox is focused on developing hardware that brings real added value, whether for gamers or developers. He also points out that it's more difficult today to show the benefits of a mid-generation update versus a major technological evolution, as was the case with the switch from standard definition to high definition between the original Xbox and the Xbox 360.
In addition, Microsoft seems to be experimenting with portable console prototypes, although these projects are still in really early stages. We'll have to wait and see what the future holds in terms of Xbox hardware.
