Ubisoft speaks out on going private... and the share price skyrocket

Last week, Bloomberg dropped a bombshell about a possible takeover of Ubisoft by the Guillemot family and the Chinese giant Tencent, with a partnership that could lead to the company going private.

In a press release sent to Video Game Chronicle, the French company addressed the rumor.

"Ubisoft has noted recent press speculation regarding potential interests around the Company. It regularly reviews all its strategic options in the interest of stakeholders and will inform the market if and when appropriate."

"The Company reiterates that management is currently focused on executing its strategy, centred on two core verticals – Open World Adventures and GaaS-native experiences."

In addition, since the rumor of this hypothetical takeover surfaced, Ubisoft's share price has risen by 50.5% to €15.32.
