Ubisoft believes Assassin's Creed Shadows and Ghost of Yōtei will both sell well despite their similarities

By delaying Assassin's Creed Shadows to next February 14, Ubisoft will potentially find itself competing with Ghost of Yōtei, which is also coming out in 2025, although Sucker Punch's title should land well after the French publisher's.
In any case, since the two titles share similarities, such as the fact that their story takes place in feudal Japan, Ubisoft shareholders are worried about such competition. This is unlikely to be the case for Yves Guillemot, the company's CEO, who believes that both games will sell very well.
"There's plenty of room for high-quality games, and these two games can sell very well. In terms of competing with Assassin's Creed Shadows, the goal is really to make sure we deliver a fantastic experience. Whether it's with the approach of being able to play as two protagonists, with Yasuke and Naoe being played differently, and the fact that the game is set in feudal Japan - it should be really appealing."
