Concord development would have cost $400 million

We're learning more about Concord with each passing day... And the news are far from encouraging. This time, Colin Moriarty, host of Last Stand Media's Sacred Symbols podcast, has his say.

According to sources close to Firewalk Studios, Concord cost around $400 million to develop. So, in budget terms, it's the biggest first-party game in PlayStation history... and also the biggest failure.

By the time PlayStation bought out the team responsible for Concord in early 2023, the title was probably in a sorry state. So much so that other studios had to come and lend Firewalk a hand to complete it. Monetization was still there, the game had content missing here and there and so on.

Internally, however, Concord was billed as "the future of PlayStation", with potential on a par with the Star Wars saga. Moriarty even refers to a "positive toxicity" that permeated Sony before launch. At the time, it was forbidden to speak ill of the project, and Hermen Hulst, who was President of PlayStation Studios, was one of Concord's most fervent supporters.
