The renowned Wall Street Journal had access to sales figures for current-gen consoles, and the least we can say is that Sony is way ahead of Microsoft this time.
According to the Journal, the PS5 has sold 61.7 million units worldwide. The Xbox Series, on the other hand, sold just 28.3 million units, just under half.
The Wall Street Journal also highlighted the performance of previous-generation consoles. The PS2 sold 155 million units, while the first-generation Xbox sold 24.7 million. The race was then much tighter with the following one, with the PS3 at 87 million and the Xbox 360 at 84.9 million. Finally, the PS4 climbed to 117 million units and the Xbox One to 57.9 million.
