The past few months have seen the launch of a new number of portable consoles and peripherals. Be it the Steam Deck, the ASUS ROG Ally, the PlayStation Portal... All of them have been a commercial success.

According to insider Tom Henderson, this trend is here to stay. At Gamescom 2024, all the major figures in the video game industry discussed the return of handheld consoles at length.

Henderson added that more "options and improvements" are coming soon, so let's all enjoy the return of the handhelds!

Almost everyone at Gamescom gave interesting hardware discussions about handhelds. My hunch is that you should save your money a little longer if you're planning to buy one. It seems like a lot more options and improvements are coming soon (not sure on exact timelines).
