According to Obsidian's CEO, The Outer Worlds 2 is going really well

After Avowed in February 2025, The Outer Worlds 2 will be Obsidian's next game. Announced back in June 2021, this second entry may be taking some time, but things seem to be going all right.

In a recent interview, Feargus Urquhart, head of the American studio, reassured fans explaining that development "is going really well", and that he is "really impressed with the team".

But that's not all. Urquhart also explained that Obsidiant went through some troubles during the COVID. In fact, Grounded and The Outer Worlds 2 were amost cancelled in favor of Avowed, and it was only because of Microsoft that both projects ended up pulling through.
