Several hundred people are said to have worked on The Last of Us Online for four years

To everyone's surprise, last December Naughty Dog announced that The Last of Us Online was cancelled, as sustaining such a big project over the long term would have required far too many resources.

During a podcast, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier spoke about this, and pointed out that the game had been in development for around four years, with several hundred people working on it.

According to Schreier, the project being cancelled was not without consequences. Once the decision was made, Sony carried out big sanctions and even dismissals.
