Showing your game at Gamescom's Opening Night Live can cost up to €265,000

For several years now, Geoff Keighley has had a kind of monopoly when it comes to announcing video games on conferences. Whether it's the Game Awards, Summer Game Fest or Gamescom Opening Night, the Canadian producer is everywhere!
When it comes to Opening Night Live at the German trade show, studios have to pay a colossal sum to have their production appear during the ceremony. A 30-second clip costs €115,000, a 60-second clip €165,000 and a 90-second clip €215,000. If you want to get two minutes of airtime, you're looking at €265,000.
A pre-show appearance is less expensive, going up to €132,500 for two minutes, €107,500 for 90 seconds, €82,500 for 60 seconds and €57,500 for 30 seconds.
In other words, unveiling your game at Gamescom is out of reach for the smallest studios. Opening Night Live will be broadcast on August 20.
