Intel starts production of 3nm chips in the USA and Ireland
, by Quentin
Intel recently launched production of chips using its latest process, the Intel 3, an important move forward the company announced some time ago.
This brand-new process brings improvements over its predecessor, the Intel 4. It will be used both by the company and by external customers, and production will start at their facilities in Oregon and Ireland.
It will be used to produce the latest Xeon 6 processors, and the new 3nm chips offer up to 18% higher performance for the same power consumption, as well as up to 10% greater transistor density.
