Apple reportedly halts development of Vision Pro 2 in order to concentrate on a more affordable model
, by Quentin
There are some rumors pointing to the Apple Vision Pro 2 being cancelled, as it would have been to pricey. Apple has choosen to concentrate on a more affordable model. This seems quite logical, given the headset's high production costs, which are in turn reflected in its selling price of €3,999 in Europe.
What's more, insiders have revealed that Apple is going to produce no more than 500,000 units this year, given that mainstream adoption so far hasn't been that great due to its high price. The company's suppliers have reportedly already started scaling back production.
All eyes are now on a cheaper device, expected to feature fewer cameras, a simpler speaker system and a new headband design, all in order to cut costs as much as possible. According to rumors, Apple would like to offer a product around $1,600 releasing at the end of 2025.
