Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is a hit with the press

Can a DLC be on the run for GOTY? This could very well be the case with Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. Almost regarded as a game in its own right, this expansion launches on June 20 and has enraptured all those who have played it.

FromSoftware's latest piece of content has scored a Metacritic average of 95% on PS5 (out of 56 reviews), 92% on PC (45 reviews) and 94% on Xbox Series (8 reviews). On OpenCritic, it boasts an average of 94% with 61% reviews.

On one hand, we've got a huge amount of content, some enthralling boss battles, great art direction and beautiful new region.

As for the shortcomings, certain areas of the map can feel a little empty, the secondary bosses are a bit boring and the narrative is still too nebulous.
