The first reviews of the Snapdragon X Elite are in and things don't look too hot

While it was one of the most eagerly awaited laptop processors due to what the company promised, the first reviews of Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite falls short of greatness when it comes to performance.

Indeed, and even though all the reviews are based on the Asus Vivobook S15 OLED, they reveal that the company is failing to live up to its promises. For web browsing, the impact on the processor is fairly minimal and doesn't affect the battery. However, when it comes to heavier tasks, the battery discharges fast.

As far as performance is concerned, the processor delivers rather convincing multicore results in benchmarks such as Cinebench 2024 or PCMark10, but lags behind in other things such as video encoding, file extraction or document conversion.

However, there are some important aspects to note, notably in terms of memory latency, which is just 8.1 ns compared with the over 100 ns on Intel laptops.
