Phil Spencer remains vague but doesn't deny the existence of an Xbox handheld

While Microsoft won over gamers and the press alike last night with an Xbox Games Showcase filled to the brim with announcements and with a great sense of pacing, we couldn't confirm a pretty interesting rumor.
For several weeks now, there has been a rumor making the rounds that pointed to the existence of an Xbox handheld ready to be shown. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case yesterday, despite a few hardware announcements.
However, Phil Spencer did respond to an IGN interview. He said that Microsoft's future in hardware is pretty impressive, that his teams are working on different forms and ways of playing, and that he is incredibly excited about it.
He went on to say the following, "Today was about the games… but we will have a time to come out and talk more about platform, and we can’t wait to bring it to you."
Finally, when asked if this new handheld console would be a cloud-only system, he retorted that playing games locally is really important.
As you can see, he doesn't dismiss anything out of hand, but remains extremely vague and cautious, so we'll have to keep a close eye on this.
