Cats in video games (after conquering the Internet, they are coming for gaming too!)
, by Quentin
Who doesn't like cats? These little, furry cuties have taken all over the Internet, gracing plenty of videos with their presence and garnering millions of views thanks to their adorable faces. Could this be the case with games too? We think so, and even better, we're proving it with today's story.
Cat Quest
We're starting with a series that will sure please many, and is getting a third entry in mid-2024. It's an Action-RPG with a dash of hack'n'slash, colorful art direction and little cats as lethal as they are cute. Wheter played solo or coop, Cat Quest games are always a good time.
Little Kitty, Big city
In Little Kitty, Big City, you play as a little black cat who has fallen from his apartment building. The little cutie is alright, don't worry, you know how the saying goes, though it's lost. You need to help it find its way home, while completing some side quests by other cute animals.
The game is a breath of fresh air, and is as good as it's relaxing, allowing the player to take your mind off your troubles for a few minutes in a simple way.
Stray
While Little Kitty, Big City takes place in a cute universe, Stray goes for a different vibe. We're immersed in a kind of dystopia where humans are no more. The are only robots that mimic emotions, and we have to make our way through the world in search of answers. Stray boasts a magnificent direction and superb atmosphere that caused sensation on release, and it's easy to see why. We recommend it wholeheartedly.
Blacksad
Adapted from the famous comic strip by Juan Díaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido, Blacksad follows, as in the comics, the investigations of John Blacksad, a private detective cat. He's dark, nonchalant, and the game has the atmosphere of a a detective story.
You'll have to solve a murder case, that of the owner of a boxing club. Set in the 1950s, you'll have to find out what happened in this sordid affair in New York's underworld.
Hi-Fi Rush
Let's end up on a high note with Hi-Fi RUSH. Yes, the cat is not the main character here, but it plays an important part in the adventure anyway.
808 is Chai's (the main character) travelling companion. Along with the cat, you'll battle a corporation of robots in a world where everything is tiend to music, subtly blending action with the beats. What's more, it's always a good opportunity to discover the great work done by Tango Gameworks before Microsoft decided to make 'em go the way of the dodo.
Of course, there are many more cats in video games. It's up to you to help us fill this section. Which is the most memorable game with cats in it ever? And don't forget to check these games!
