Ubisoft wants to focus on GAAS and open-world adventure games

The French publisher has set out its priorities during the announcement of its results for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. It's been a record year for Ubisoft, with net sales estimated at 2.3 billion euros, up 33% year-on-year driven by the performance of the Assassin's Creed and Rainbow Six licenses.

So, the company is going to focus fully on what works. In its report, it mentions its ambition to "play to our strengths and are sharpening our strategic focus on two verticals, Open World Adventures and GaaS-native experiences”. With this, Ubisoft claims to have "growth prospects ” and the opportunity to cross-fertilize its various brands while investing on propietary tech.

Brands mentioned by Ubisoft include Assassin's Creed, Star Wars, Far Cry, The Division, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six Siege, XDefiant, The Division Resurgence and Rainbow Six Mobile. There was no mention of Watch Dogs or even Beyond Good & Evil.

Finally, the multinational reiterated its commitment to investing in artificial intelligence, notably with the technology for creating ultra-realistic PnJs [https://news.instant-gaming.com/en/articles/5445-during-gdc-ubisoft-presented-its-ai-based-ultra-realistic-npc-system) in March.
