Last August, the Volition studio closed its doors for good. Its teams were best known for their work on the Saints Row IP. The last game, out in 2022, was a critical and commercial failure.
Now, thanks to Tyrin Stevenson, the company's former community and social networking manager, we've been able to find out just how disastrous it was. Indeed, the latest Saints Row achieved the franchise's worst sales ever with just 1.7 million copies across all platforms.
The excellent Saints Row: The Third sold 5.5 million units, while Saints Row 2 sold 3.4 million. Only available on Xbox 360 in 2003, the very first Saints Row nevertheless sold over 2 million copies.
Finally, although official figures are not available, we do know that Saints Row 4 sold over a million copies in its first week on the market.
